O2 Employment Services is hiring internally for a high-level Payroll Specialist with prevailing wage experience. This is a full-time, regular position in Redding CA.

The ideal candidate for a Payroll Specialist role is a highly organized, accurate, and deadline-driven professional with a solid understanding of payroll processes, labor laws, and compliance standards.

Compensation of the Payroll Specialist:

$25.00 - $35.00 an hour, depending on experience
Major medical, urgent medical care, dental, vision, and 401k benefits.
Generous vacation accrual plan and sick leave pay.
Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, occasional overtime, when necessary

Qualifications of the Payroll Specialist:

Experience running payroll and familiarity with California and Federal tax laws.
Experience preparing certified payroll and prevailing wage is preferred.
Will consider candidates with accounting experience.
Proficient with Word and Excel.
Ability to communicate, follow directions, and take detailed notes.
Must be self-motivated and have great customer service and people skills.
Must be a team player willing to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities of the Payroll Specialist:

Processing payroll: calculate timecards, input, or import hours into software program, proof and print checks and invoice, notify client, and package payroll.
Research prevailing wage rates and maintain accurate prevailing wage rate spreadsheets.
Prepare certified prevailing wage reports for clients, including CAC2 forms.
Updates employee payroll records in software; including tax form, direct deposit authorization, address change, etc.
Answer clients and employees’ payroll questions.
Research and implement industry specific laws and regulations.
Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
Maintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
